Bare Map BMd focuses on the greater urban areas around Phoenix Park and Dunsink Observatory, including a former landfill site and areas earmarked for further development. Using LiDAR data supplied by OSI, berte & harmey developed a map showing the terrain stripped bare, devoid of vegetation and buildings, but retaining traces and marks of (non-)human activities and infrastructure.

Conceived as a prompt to relook at the spaces we inhabit, the Bare Map is designed to spark conversations and discussion. The map is accompanied by a glossary – Glossa – a small-scale system displaying words gleaned from official reports juxtaposed with language generated through wordplay, discussion and public contributions.
